Our History,
Present and Future
The House of Faith Students and Associates (HOFSA) as a Campus Student Christian Ministry was established in the year 2000. Initiated by Rev. Alfred Nyamekye, Founder and Leader of the House of Faith Ministries Worldwide, and spearheaded by Mr Steven Donyina, Mr. Kofi Adu and Emmanuel Damah, this ministry is aimed at the spiritual and intellectual development of its members for campus and global impact. HOFSA at its inception started holding its fellowship meetings at the House of Faith Central Church in Kumasi with a few dedicated students in the church. As the mission started growing, information was passed on to students in the other local churches in the region to join the group to make the vision a reality. Sparking to action backed by hopeful pledges, the first executive members were chosen with Mr. Steven Donyina wielding the compass as the Pilot (president) of the group. Their administration tenure, from 2000 to 2007, saw the sprouting of student leadership, missions and spiritual conferences in 2006/07 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus. Through this, they were able to mobilize students from all the tertiary institutions across the breath and length of the nation for missions work.
As a result of this feat, the group organized a powerful and memorable crusade at Effiduase, dubbed “Effiduase for Christ” to revive the Effiduase local church and its inhabitants. To admit, all these had not come with ease by day, but with determination, perseverance and Christ as the Chief Anchor, HOFSA begun to experience growth in membership base, establishments of networks and outstation campuses in other tertiary institutions and strategic locations. Less participation of members coupled with inadequate resources for the work begun to cripple the speed of the group. In spite of these challenges, the group progressed to organize and initiate several projects and programmes for the edification and strengthening of its members as well as its externals. HOFSA-KNUST, which became dysfunctional due to the exit of some key members, was revitalized by the emergence of some vibrant House of Faith students who caught the vision through the able leadership of Rev. Ernest Ekuoba Gyasi (The HOFSA Pioneer), who innately understood the reason for fellowship as House of Faith members on the KNUST campus. As few as the numbers were, fellowship begun vehemently at the Paa Joe Sports Stadium on a regular basis. Spiritual engagements such as fasting and prayers, convert visitation, Bible studies, cell meetings as well as inspirational and instructional counsel from Rev. Ernest Ekouba Gyasi, Pastor Nana Adu were just enough to steer the ministry on the right path to victory in our Lord Jesus.
With the hand of God being so mighty upon HOFSA, we can say with joy that not only does the group boast of just the KNUST chapter, but we can count other chapters at the University of Cape Coast, University of Ghana, University of Education, Winneba and a couple of campuses all across the country. With James 1: 2-6 as our source of inspiration, the ministry grew from strength to strength, grew in faith and in the knowledge of the Word through the determination and abled sacrifices and leadership of some Gospel giants in the persons of; Alfred Korankye, George Boateng, Webster Aseidu Ayisi, Rhoda Mensah Darkwah, Linda Adu Gyamfi, Albert Kyei Baffour, just to mention a few.
Today, with our tentacles widening and the vision weighing heavy on God’s people, HOFSA Ghana is looking forward to building a formidable group of young tertiary students and professionals who are intellectually sound and spiritually sensitive to move the Kingdom Agenda on earth to influence social, cultural, educational and corporate decisions and lifestyles. HOFSA…. Live for Christ, Shine for Christ.
